Oh what an event, what a show! [Jun. 7th, 2004|07:43 am]

I'm on a plane now, about halfway between New York City and Miami, a few thousand feet in the air, glancing out the window in hopes of seeing a man on a flying motorcycle...

And it's June 6, and in book-chronology, today is ten years to the day from the moment Harry learned that, to paraphrase Into The Woods, rodents can be vile and 'madmen' can be good - and so can the werewolves who care so fiercely about them. And I *just* realised that the whole scene happened on the 50th anniversary of D-Day. I wonder if that means anything...

It's coming on midnight UK time now, as I write this, but I won't be able to post for another hour, once we've landed (ETA: and because of connection issues, I didn't manage to post this until Monday morning - but the sentiments are the same).

So I wanted to take this moment to thank everyone who made yesterday's POA IMAX NYC overwhelming and spectacular! Of course, Melissa, my TLC cohort who helped coordinate and co-organize, Megan and Kristin and BK who kept the inspiration going, and everyone who helped us at the theater: Aimee and Amy, who flanked me at the table, Gwen and Carrie and Anna and Victoria and Katie who handled directional and distributional activities, Ali and Scott who rescued me, Liss and Lisa and Jori who helped with crowd's movement, and, Cheryl, without whom none of us would've been there, in a sort of roundabout way. And I know I'm forgetting people, as I don't have any photos to remind me right now.

Kudos to the American Booksellers Foundation for Free Expression who sold tonnes of shirts and buttons to support free speech and the right of everyone to write what they dream about and read what they choose, including and especially Harry Potter books!

And of course, thanks to all of you who came to the show - who were so patient in line, and who cheered and shrieked and laughed and swooned through the film. What a wonder to see this show with all of you!

A few of you asked if we'd do it again for Goblet of Fire - when we have a release date, we'll talk.

We'd love to collect the pictures everyone took - if you could send them to poaimax@the-leaky-cauldron.org we'd really appreciate it (and under 100kb per photo is most appreciated). Thanks again for coming - and we hope to see all of you again!

Guess the people who were jipped on popcorn and soda they paid for aren't getting refunds. Nice to inform us. Thanks.

I may be misremebering here, but I thought ild said that ild post if we'd be able to give refunds.

The woman from the theater never called me back despite the various messages I left for her, and given that we from tlc had already spent about a hundred bucks of our own money on the event, we realy didn't have the resources to do anything more. I'm sorry the theater screwed you over but it was *them* who did it, not us. We didn't ask them to run out of stuff.
